For this month’s consumer spotlight we talked with Mark McIntyre, who runs his own fitness training business as well as the supplement review website malehealthreview.com. He discussed his reasons for switching to a VOIP service and the impact it has made on his business.
What was it that initially appealed to you about voice over IP?
“Well, after doing a good amount of research, I came to understand that by using a bundled package VoIP, I could combine phone, data, and video into one unified service, and that would allow me much more flexibility in the day-to-day operations of running a small business.
“As it turns out, the speed, flexibility, and security of having my own unified communications network saves me a lot of time and money.”
For those who may not know, what exactly is Voice Over IP?
“Voice over IP, or VOIP, allows you to make phone calls over an IP data network. So basically it enables you to incorporate all of your communications (such as voice, data, and video) into one secure, inexpensive, and easy-to-manage solution, that also has lots of great added features.”
Why was having those features an important selling point for you?
“As a small business owner, I’ve got to stay flexible-and that’s the main reason why I ultimately went with VoIP. By switching to an Internet-based phone system, I stay connected whether I’m at work or at home. Plus, it provides better security and I have easy access to any information I need, right when I need it.”
What are some specific reasons why you switched to using VOIP?
“First of all, it saves money in a lot of ways, for example by reducing travel expenses with web conferencing, video calls, and similar communications.
“I can also easily add extra phone lines since VOIP enables me to send more than one phone call at a time across the same web-based network.
“I’m able to communicate better with employees and customers, too, and have several options for staying connected with clients and employees. I can even see which employees are available and how I’m able to reach them.
“Having a centralized communication network makes it easier for me to work from home or anywhere there’s an internet connection.”
What are some other features that having Voice on IP service provides?
“There’s call forwarding, voicemail, unlimited long distance, call conferencing, caller ID… really too many to name them all.
“The important thing to take away is that having VOIP for your business or practice offers a technology that enhances your overall productivity and client satisfaction. That means you have more time to focus on what really matters – your success!”
